Aaron Rodgers’ season-ending injury casts a dark cloud over the New York Jets’ 2023 campaign. It’s up to Zach Wilson to keep Jets fans believing in the team’s playoff aspirations. Their talented defensive unit could also carry them through some victories.

It would have been a different scenario if the four-time NFL Most Valuable Player was healthy. As a consolation, the surgery on his injured Achilles went well. However, he’s not giving a final timeline for his return to action.

Aaron Rodgers is working on his return to competitive football

While the 19-season NFL veteran regularly goes on The Pat McAfee Show every Tuesday, he appeared on the new ESPN program on Friday, the 22nd. He used the time to clarify matters regarding his path to full recovery.

Aaron Rodgers said:

“Some of the things that were reported about the type of surgery I got was factual. Some of the stuff was not entirely factual. These types of injuries can take a lot, you know, a lot of time. It can be 6 or 8 to 12 months. There's been a few guys who come back at four and a half. But I'm going to do everything I can rehab-wise to put myself in a position to be ready to play football again at some point.”

What’s definitive is that Rodgers is considering putting on pads and helmets again in making his football return. However, the day when that scenario becomes a reality is still uncertain. The successful surgery is just the first step to his comeback. The real work starts during the rehabilitation phase.

Aaron Rodgers got injured during the New York Jets’ 2023 season opener at MetLife Stadium. He lasted only four snaps after Leonard Floyd sacked him. He tried to get up at once but couldn’t put weight on his injured Achilles.

His absence dampened what looked like a promising season for the Jets. With him behind center, New York’s AFC squad has a great chance of ending their 12-season playoff drought. Aaron Rodgers also solidified his commitment to the team by agreeing to a two-year, $75 million restructured deal.

Who is Aaron Rodgers’ surgeon, Dr. Neal ElAttrache?

Rodgers underwent successful surgery with Dr. Neal ElAttrache, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. He was hailed as one of the “Best Orthopedic Surgeons in Los Angeles” by The Hollywood Reporter.

Dr. ElAttrache is the head team physician for the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Dodgers. He earned his Medical Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh in 1985. Four years later, he made his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the same school.

Aside from Aaron Rodgers, Dr. ElAttrache also worked with Zack Greinke, Shohei Ohtani, and the late Kobe Bryant. He was also the surgeon who operated on Tom Brady’s torn ACL after the New England Patriots’ 2008 season opener.
