Aaron Rodgers fires back at accusations of his involvement in Jets' dismissal of HC Robert Saleh

Aaron Rodgers has been in the crosshairs of NFL fans as the man who got New York Jets coach Robert Saleh fired him his job after a dismal 2-3 start to the season and a 20-36 record overall.

Rodgers' weekly Tuesday appearance on The Pat McAfee Show was postponed to a day later.

On Wednesday, when Pat McAfee brought up what people have been saying about him on the internet, Rodgers fired back.

"As far as any of the ridiculous allegations out there, I’m not going to spend more than one sentence in response to it, and that is I resent any of those accusations because they’re patently false," Rodgers said. "It’s interesting the amount of power people think I have, which I don’t. But I love Robert, and it was one of those days yesterday."

After that, McAfee warned that his statement could be taken by fans on the internet and deliberately used out of context to somehow draw the connection between him and Saleh's firing, to which Rodgers said, "I don't care."

Rodgers recounted how tough yesterday was for him. He added that as tough as it may be for the actual NFL personnel, firings are tougher for their families.

Rodgers also gave props to Robert Saleh:

"Robert is a fantastic human being and a damn good football coach. He's a family man."

Saleh has seven children, and Aaron Rodgers said he had gotten close to Adam, one of Saleh's kids. He was Rodgers' throwing buddy during training camp. He then sent out an emotional appeal to people who were "championing" Robert's firing.

"I would just appeal to the humanity of this situation. And remind you there are other people involved. And Adam has to go to school today, possibly this week. Hopefully, there's no kids with poor parents who are making snide comments to him."

Saleh is reportedly planning to go on vacation and spend more time with his family. He won't be looking for coaching jobs in the NFL, at least till the 2024 season is over.
