Aaron Rodgers' former teammate draws parallels between Caleb Williams and Jets QB

Caleb Williams is on for a ride.

There's no team with bigger expectations to explode in the upcoming season than the Chicago Bears. With Williams and a plethora of offensive stars joining the roster, everyone is expecting the team to move up in 2024 and start competing for the playoffs.

Chicago Bears tight end Marcedes Lewis, who also spent part of his career playing with Aaron Rodgers on the Green Bay Packers, has spoken about what he has seen of his new quarterback, and he's impressed with the young man's talent, even comparing to the legendary veteran:

This guy wants to be great. You can tell - if he doesn't do something 100 percent correct, he's correcting himself. He can make every throw, a little Aaron Rodgers-esque. He’s just different, man. I'm looking forward to him going out there, and competing, and showing everybody what he's been working on, because even within his first week, he’s doing things that you don’t see from a young guy, and the sky is the limit for him. Asks all of the right questions, he's a leader naturally, he doesn't walk around acting like he knows it all. I'm impressed so far.

Lewis has kept himself on many rosters around the league as a blocking tight end, even though he hasn't put up numbers in a long time. He spent most of his career with the Jacksonville Jaguars, apart from his stints with the Packers and the Bears.

Is Caleb Williams worth the hype around him?

Caleb Williams completely changed the vibes in Chicago. The new Bears quarterback is the golden ticket for a franchise that has long craved a decent signal-caller to lead them, and he's ready to take over from the first day.

Williams is the type of quarterback molded to perfection, always thought of as the type everyone wants to have: five-star recruit coming out of high school, college football star, Heisman Trophy winner, first pick in the NFL Draft. He's used to the feeling of being the star, and will have to live with that responsibility on the biggest stage.

Chicago Bears fans are in for a great ride. Caleb Williams is all they've dreamed of for in a long, long time. If the Green Bay Packers always find a new answer to the quarterback position, Chicago now also has their prized asset.
