After the game, Rodgers once again hinted at hanging up the cleats, knowing he’s guaranteed $58.3 million if he comes back next season. Here's what Rodgers said:
“Money is energy, and I have made a ton of it and I’m very thankful for this organization, the generational wealth that they’ve offered me.”

The Packers star signed a three-year, $150.8 million-dollar contract last March. He was given $101.4 million in total guarantees and $150.66 million in injury guarantees. The deal runs through 2024, and should he return next season, he is set to make $59.5 million. Aaron Rodgers’ contract lasts until the 2024 season when he is projected to make $49.3 million.
His retirement right now could come costly for the Packers, who could suffer a major dead cap hit. Green Bay could take a cap hit of almost $99.8 million next season if Rodgers doesn't return for the 2023 - 2024 season. The four-time MVP has been quite the roller coaster this season.
Aaron Rodgers and his rocky 2022 - 2023 season with the Packers
The Green Bay Packers started the season by winning three of their first games and looking primed to make the playoffs. However, Rodgers and the Packers then lost seven of their next eight games, sitting with a 4 - 8 record. In that stretch, the Super Bowl-winning quarterback threw nine interceptions, which equaled the total he threw over the last two seasons combined.
Rodgers then led the team on a four-game winning streak, putting Green Bay in a position to make the playoffs for the third straight season. However, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers came up short versus the Lions in Week 18.
Now, the best quarterback in Packers history will enter the offseason as fans once wonder if he'll return.
