Aaron Rodgers' playoff record could leave a lasting impact on his NFL legacy

Aaron Rodgers' playoff record is perhaps the only blip on his resume. Now an eighteen-year veteran, Rodgers has won almost every accolade possible for an NFL quarterback.

Despite his Super Bowl win back in 2011, Rodgers is likely to be remembered the most for his four MVP nods. Still active, the quarterback could well go on to equal or usurp Peyton Manning's record of five MVP awards. But catching Brady for Super Bowl rings? Not a chance.

This could well have not been the case had Aaron Rodgers' playoff record been better. But what is his playoff record? And just how much is he to blame for the Packers' losses?

Aaron Rodgers' playoff record pales in comparison to his achievements in the regular season. Now in his 18th season in the NFL, Rodgers has played in 22 playoff games thus far. Losing nearly half of the number of games he's played, Rodgers' playoff record stands at 12-10. With a win percentage barely above .500, it's easy to see why many may think twice before involving the quarterback in the GOAT conversation.

Aaron Rodgers versus Tom Brady has been a topic of conversation for years now in NFL circles. Arguably two of the greatest of their generation, the quarterbacks have faced off against each other four times in the past but only once in the playoffs.

The game in question was the NFC playoff game between the Green Bay Packers and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2020-21 NFL playoffs. The Buccaneers edged the Packers 31-26 and even went on to win Super Bowl LV.

Head-to-head Brady has the edge with a 3-1 record. The seven-time Super Bowl winner's incredible 35-12 playoff record too dwarfs that of any quarterback in NFL history.

Aaron Rodgers' playoff stats

The Packers QB has often been blamed for buckling under pressure in the playoffs. But how much of it is true? In his 22 NFL playoff games thus far, the four-time league MVP has a passer rating of 100.1 with 5,894 yards, 45 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

It is true, though, that stats don't tell the entire story. There have been times under pressure where the quarterback has failed to deliver. But more often than not, the Packers' playoff blushes have resulted from blunders in other departments. Might we remind you of what happened when the Packers took on the 49ers in the 2021 NFL divisional playoffs?

Barring his first trip to the NFC Championship game in 2011, Rodgers has lost all of his other championship appearances. This includes losses to the Seattle Seahawks (2014), Atlanta Falcons (2016), San Francisco 49ers (2019), and most recently the Buccaneers (2020).
