Tim Patrick has seen a ton of football being played from the sidelines. More than two years later, the wide receiver made his first reception. However, it got spoiled by the ref flagging Patrick’s celebration as ‘taunting.’ The penalty did not sit well with the Broncos fans.

In the first preseason game against the Indianapolis Colts, Patrick caught a pass and proceeded to celebrate against the defenders. The WR held his hand to the side while facing Colts CB Jaylon Jones and dropped the ball while speaking to him. When Patrick hurried to the huddle, the referee raised his flag.

“Broncos WR Tim Patrick made his first catch since 2021, but then got hit with a taunting penalty for doing this.”

The Denver Broncos fans showed their frustration over the ref’s call. They, in turn, called out the officiating of the league.

“What the fuck is this actual bullsh*t @NFLOfficiating”
“That’s bull crap!!!! Ahhhh!!!!!”

Many gave a new meaning to the NFL acronym as well over this call.

“The no fun league is back. Can’t hurt a guys feelings like that”, wrote one fan.
“No fun league strikes again”, wrote another fan.

Some fans said that it is, after all, a preseason game and an exception should’ve been made for Tim Patrick.

“Man hasn’t made a catch in years. Ffs cut him some slack”, wrote a fan.
“This man is playing on NFL turf without a massive injury. Let him TALK HIS TALK”, wrote another fan.

Why didn’t Tim Patrick make a catch after 2021?

As the 2021 season came to a close, Tim Patrick signed a three-year contract with the Broncos worth $34.5 million. He demonstrated exceptional skill in that season, despite just being signed for a year. However, the tide shifted, and Patrick missed the majority of his playing time from that point forward.

In August 2022, Patrick tore his ACL during practice and was out for the entire season. Next year, in July, the 30-year-old suffered a torn Achilles during practice, ending his season prematurely once again. Now the WR is fit and ready to make a comeback into the Broncos squad.
