CeeDee Lamb and Jerry Jones continue to be locked into the same stalemate that has been the topic of conversation for months. However, with the preseason now over, the pressure on both sides has risen to a new level.

Speaking on an August 26 edition of "Get Up," NFL insider Adam Schefter lost his cool in a rare moment of frustration on the show. While delivering the Dallas Cowboys scoop coupled with his analysis, viewers could hear his voice raising and his tone shifting.

"We're talking about a million dollars, if you're the Dallas Cowboys, puff up the last few years, inflate the average salary. Get the guy in camp and get it done. They're not that far apart. I would have thought this deal would have been done weeks ago," he said [12:22].

While a million dollars would be life-changing for most Americans, the amount likely will be a small fraction of the overall cost of the deal. While no details are available about the overall size of the contract, analysts expect the total to rival Justin Jefferson's four-year, $140 million mega-deal.

Rust becomes a practical guarantee for CeeDee Lamb heading into Week 1

Over the last several months, the season and the idea of getting a deal done in time for the regular season have been a theoretical pie-in-the-sky argument. However, with the preseason concluded, Lamb will need to combat rust using live reps in Week 1.

Currently, it is unclear whether he is in football shape and even if he is, he has not gone through a Cowboys practice, sharpening up the timing with Dak Prescott.

Even if CeeDee Lamb is in great overall shape, it isn't the same as taking hits and practicing standing back up. Overall, at this point, the receiver has missed the foundational practices necessary to set the playbook in motion.

While he has had time to understand the playbook, which is likely to have undergone only minor changes, he has yet to put it into action. His first game-speed practice with it will be during the regular season.

As such, facing a historically stout Cleveland Browns defense in Week 1, CeeDee Lamb could be in for a slow start to the year. That is, if a deal gets done with Jerry Jones at all.
