Davante Adams was extremely frustrated as he left the football field following the Las Vegas Raiders' Week 5 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs during the 2022 NFL season. He made what appeared to be a pivotal catch that could have changed the outcome of the game for the Raiders, but it was overturned as an incomplete pass following an official review.
Adams was noticeably angry with the call, which spilled over to when he was making his exit from the field. A cameraman crossed paths with Adams as he was making his way to the locker room, and Adams shoved him. The cameraman fell to the ground, but appeared to avoid any serious injuries.

The situation took a more serious turn when the cameraman officially pressed charges against Davante Adams for assault. Stephen A. Smith recently appeared on an episode of 'First Take' to share his opinion on the now-legal situation.
“This is a money grab, I’m accusing the guy. You’re damn right it is, okay? He got pushed to the ground, you got right back up. Next thing you know, you at the police department, and now you filed some charges. Please, ain’t nobody fooled. This is a money grab.”
Smith continued:
“The fact of the matter is that Davante Adams had no business doing what he was doing, or what he did, rather. Let’s make sure we say this about Davante Adams. He’s got no history whatsoever, any bad history. He’s a good dude, you know, heart’s in the right place. Goes out there, has elevated himself to arguably the best receiver in football. All of that stuff is true about him. This is just an unfortunate situation he found himself in.”
Stephen A. Smith made it clear that he believed what Davante Adams did was wrong, but he also thinks the victim is only pressing charges in an attempt to make money. He explained that Adams has no history whatsoever of being a dirty player in any way. Instead, this was an isolated incident in which his emotions got the best of him.
Will Davante Adams be disciplined?
In a since-deleted Tweet, Davante Adams went on Twitter to issue a public apology to the victim of the situation:
"Sorry to the guy I pushed over after the game. Obviously very frustrated at the way the game ended and when he ran in front of me as I exited that was my reaction and I felt horrible immediately. Thats not me..MY APOLOGIES man hope you see this."
While Adams is facing misdemeanor assault charges that are yet to be settled, he could also receive discipline from the NFL for his actions:
The Las Vegas Raiders are currently on a bye week in Week 6 of the 2022 NFL season, so the NFL will have an extra week to determine whether Adams will receive a suspension. He could also be fined by the league in addition to whatever comes of the charges being pursued against him.
