The Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings met in the final game of the 2024 regular season in the biggest duel of the campaign. Both teams came into Week 18 with a 14-2 record, the joint-second-best record in the league behind the 15-1 Kansas City Chiefs. While both franchises would have ideally wanted to rest their starters ahead of the playoffs, the No. 1 seed in the NFC was on the line, prompting both teams to treat it like a postseason game.
The game was close until midway through the third quarter, after which running back Jahmyr Gibbs took over. The sophomore star scored three touchdowns in just over 12 minutes of game time to clinch the win for his team.
Amon-Ra St. Brown played a pivotal role in helping his team seize the No. 1 seed in the NFC with a 31-9 win over the Vikings and was, unsurprisingly, in celebratory mode. The star wide receiver, who finished the game with six catches for a team-high 77 receiving yards, posted a collage on Instagram celebrating the Lions' NFC North title win with the caption:

"Thanks but no thanks."
He accompanied it with singer-songwriter YG Marley's smash hit song 'Praise Jah In the Moonlight,' an homage to Jahmyr Gibbs' three-touchdown performance.
Lions' playoff path: Amon-Ra St. Brown and Co. get a week off
The win over the Vikings not only helped the Lions win the NFC North title but also secured home-field advantage and a first-round bye in the playoffs. They'll get a well-deserved two-week break before they are back in action during the divisional round.
As the No. 1 seed, Detroit will host the lowest remaining seed in the NFC on January 18th or 19th. They'll either face the Los Angeles Rams or Vikings, who are scheduled to face each other. They could also face Washington Commanders or their arch-rivals, the Green Bay Packers, if they pull off an upset win on the road.
It's hard to predict who the Lions will face. However, head coach Dan Campbell is expecting a rematch of Week 18. During his post-game handshake with Minnesota head coach Kevin O'Connell, he said:
"I'll see you in two weeks."
Campbell's lack of faith should serve as bulletin board material for the Packers, who will be the lowest remaining seed in the playoffs and travel to Detroit in the divisional round if they beat the Philadelphia Eagles on Super Wildcard Weekend.
Green Bay is 0-3 against the Lions and Eagles this season. They'd love to avenge their losses in the next two games and advance to the NFC Championship Game.
