In 2023, Amon-Ra St. Brown's rise to prominence became more evident to every NFL fan. As the Detroit Lions officially became contenders, fans all around the U.S. started to pay attention to the young receiver, who was a key part of the Lions' NFC Championship Game season.
He was also featured on Netflix's series 'Receiver', which followed four great wide receivers throughout the 2023 season. During his appearance on "The Pivot Podcast," St. Brown spoke about the condition created by head coach Dan Campbell to allow him to participate on the show:
[From 45:44] "It might have been right before the first game of the season. They said, ‘We're kind of late on this; we want you be in ‘Receiver’. We're going to have Justin Jefferson, Davante Adams, Deebo [Samuel] and George Kittle’. I was like, ‘I'm down to do it, let's do it’. They said the Lions want me to talk to Coach Campbell before we do it, because the cameras are going to be around. I said, 'Okay, I'll talk to coach,' and before (that), I talked to my dad. He said, 'Oh yeah, do that s—t.' So I went to Coach Campbell, to his office, and he's like, 'Yeah, you can do it. I just don't want it to be a distraction."

How many receivers are earning more than Amon-Ra St. Brown?
In terms of average per year, the new contract signed by the Lions star is $30.002 million. It's important to put three digits because it puts him just a bit above Tyreek Hill, who's earning $30 million.
Only two other players are above him. Justin Jefferson, from the Minnesota Vikings and who also signed a recent extension, earns $35 million per year; A. J. Brown, from the Philadelphia Eagles, gets him $32 million.
The receiver market was reset during this offseason, and there are still a few deals to go - notably Tee Higgins after the franchise tag and CeeDee Lamb when he resolves his problems with the Dallas Cowboys. It's likely that St. Brown will be surpassed, but he certainly deserves to be paid like an elite receiver.
