Tennessee Titans fans fired general manager Ran Carthon four months before the 2025 NFL draft. Following the final regular season game of the Titans against the Houston Texans, owner Amy Adams Strunk released a statement about the change in the GM position.

ESPN NFL’s analyst Adam Schefter shared the news about Carthon’s exit from the team by sharing a post on X (formerly Twitter), writing:

"Ran Carthon is out as the Titans general manager, per sources. Carthon spent two years in Tennessee with two different head coaches, and still has four years remaining on his contract. A new Titans GM will make the No. 1 overall pick."

Fans were disappointed with the decision as they criticized the owner.

"Amy Adams is the worst owner ever," a fan wrote.
"Amy should learn some patience," another fan wrote.

Meanwhile, some fans criticized the team.

"Titans are a joke. This is why Vrabel wanted roster control. The ownership is a joke," another fan commented.
"This team is a disaster," one more fan jotted.
"Firing your GM after a terrible season. What an idea. Make sure the Jags and the Giants see this," another fan said.

One more fan suggested that if they are firing the GM, they should also fire head coach Brian Callahan.

"If you fire Ran, just fire Callahan also. Hire a new GM and let him hire his coach. A new GM inheriting a coach on the hot seat isn’t smart, esp having the number 1 upcoming pick," one more fan said.

Several other fans were critical of the decision.

"This is a crazy move to make IMO," a fan added.
"A new GM would be wild!" one more fan said.

Titans owner releases a statement on Ran Carthon’s position

Amy Adams Strunk released a statement about the change in the position of GM of the team. She appreciated the time Ran Carthon spent with the team but was also critical of their disappointing season.

"I've loved the time I've spent with Ran," Strunk said. "He's a talented football mind, a great man, and friend to everyone along his path. It's impossible to ignore that our football team hasn't improved over the past two years. I am deeply disappointed in our poor win-loss record during this period, of course, but my decision also speaks to my concern about our long-term future should we stay the course."
"I love this team more than you can imagine. To our fans: we know this level of performance isn't acceptable. We're humbled by your support as we continue to work towards building the team you expect and deserve," she added.

Ran Carthon joined the Tennessee Titans in 2023 as the GM. He had a contract running for four years but is stepping out from the position in 2025.

Following the decision, President of Football Operations Chad Brinker will be moving ahead with his search for the new GM ahead of the 2025 NFL draft.

The Titans (3-14) wrapped up the season with a loss against the Texans in Week 18 (23-14).
