Andrew Whitworth takes shots at Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen after Patrick Mahomes' perfect playoff record

Former Super Bowl champion Andrew Whitworth explained why there's so much at stake for Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson in the divisional round of the 2024 NFL playoffs. After easily taking down the Denver Broncos and Pittsburgh Steelers, respectively, the Buffalo Bills and Baltimore Ravens are set to clash to define who will likely face Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship game.

On Tuesday's edition of his joint podcast with Ryan Fitzpatrick, Whitworth took a shot at Jackson and Allen for their lack of success against Mahomes in the postseason and the failures they've experienced in the postseason over the years.

(36:45) "Jackson and Allen both are living under the shadow of, 'Joe Burrow's beat him, he's been able to take him down, Tom Brady's been able to take him down, but we have never been able to take Patrick Mahomes off the throne,'" Whitworth said.

"And we’re both sitting there saying this week… 'This is not just gonna be about Mahomes. It's going to be about what we are never able to do even though I'm Josh Allen and I'm Lamar Jackson. I have all this regular season success and I’m great in the wild-card round. What happens after that?’… ‘I’ve gotta answer that question this week.’ And I think that’s why it’s gonna make it be an absolute insane football game."

Josh Allen shares thoughts on facing Lamar Jackson after regular-season defeat

The best game of the divisional round will be between Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson's teams, and both quarterbacks are well aware of the big challenge coming. Upon beating the Broncos on Sunday, Allen said going against Jackson would be a major challenge.

"They got after us earlier this year. We've got a lot of film to watch. It's a great team, it's a great quarterback obviously with Lamar, what he's able to do. He's one of if not the most dynamic quarterbacks in the league. He's so fun to watch. I'll be watching their defense this week, that's our focus."

The last time these teams clashed, the Ravens cruised to a 35-10 win over the Bills in Week 4 in Baltimore. Josh Allen and Co. will be keen to get revenge.
