Cam Newton last played in the NFL nearly four years ago but still boasts the otherworldly athleticism that made him one of the most electrifying players in the league. The former Carolina Panthers and New England Patriots star showcased it on Fox's hit reality show 'Special Forces: World's Toughest Test' during an incredible stunt that left fellow participants stunned.

In an incredibly difficult and dangerous challenge, Newton was tasked with getting onto a helicopter from a speedboat by jumping and catching one of the chopper's landing skids before pulling himself up. He made the arduous feat look relatively easy and was unsurprisingly ecstatic about it.

Newton's bravery and stunning execution were impressive, but former Pittsburgh Steelers star and noted internet troller Antonio Brown couldn't resist the opportunity to poke fun at the former NFL MVP.

He reshared the clip and captioned it:

"All this.. but n***a can’t jump on a fumble."

Brown's jibe was a reference to the most infamous moment of Newton's career. Late in the fourth quarter in Super Bowl 50, Denver Broncos star Von Miller strip-sacked the then-Panthers quarterback, who could have recovered the fumble but hesitated to dive on the ball, allowing TJ Ward to scoop it.

A minute later, running back C.J. Anderson punched the ball into the endzone to virtually end the game.

Cam Newton explained why he didn't dive on the ball in Super Bowl 50

Cam Newton was critiqued heavily for not jumping onto the ball, and it remains the lowest moment of his stellar career. In the post-game press conference, he claimed that he didn't dive because he was worried about injuring himself:

"OK I didn’t get the fumble. We can play tit-for-tat. I’ve seen numerous quarterbacks throw interceptions and their effort afterwards and they don’t go. I don’t dive on one fumble because the way my leg was, it could have been contorted in some way. OK you say my effort? I didn’t dive down. I fumbled, that’s fine. That game wasn’t built off of — we didn’t lose that game because of the fumble, I’ll say that."

While he was extremely defensive about his decision to not dive in the immediate aftermath, in hindsight, he believes it was inexcusable. On an episode of the 4th and 1 podcast, Newton said:

"It ain’t no excuse for me not jumpin’ on the fumble. I should’ve jumped on the fumble. Straight up. The competitor in me, if that happens again, duh. And this is the Super Bowl—all effort goes to, like, ‘Yo, Super Bowl energy.’ That wasn’t Super Bowl energy. And I think that is what hurts the most."

Despite his admission, the former quarterback's gaffe continues to live in infamy and haunt him.
