Reports and rumors have swirled since the end of the Green Bay Packers' season about what was next for Aaron Rodgers. Retirement, running it back or a blockbuster trade all seemed equally as likely.
Rodgers has undergone a darkness retreat to discover whether or not he wants to play again at all, but reports suggested the Packers were done with Rodgers.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero believes the reports aren't all that accurate, as he said to Rich Eisen on the latter's eponymous podcast:

"I certainly know Bob (McGinn), I would say nobody has told me that they are disgusted with Aaron Rodgers. I think that it is natural when you give someone an unprecedented type of contract, basically ripping up the remaining contract and giving him what amounts to a three year 150 million-plus dollar deal like they did last year, you're anticipating you're gonna get somebody who's fully bought in and is going to play at a really high level. And it didn't work out that way."
Many reports have suggested that if Rodgers returns, it will not be with the Packers, his only team thus far. Others have said they're done with him and want to move on and begin the Jordan Love era.
Time will tell what the Packers decide to do, but Pelissero is at least convinced that "disgusted" and "ready to move on" might not be accurate descriptors of the situation.
The Packers probably do need to figure out what they have in Love before it's too late. But it's a tough sell to pass on a future Hall of Fame quarterback, even one not exactly in his prime, to find that out.
What should the Green Bay Packers do with Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love?
The Green Bay Packers took Jordan Love with a late first-round pick in 2020, believing the Aaron Rodgers era would come to a close soon. Three years later, it's still not done.
The Packers have to decide about Love, but it shouldn't be at the cost of Rodgers. They keep Rodgers and Love walks without them finding out if he's their next guy.
Ultimately, teams make mistakes all the time. This wouldn't be the first time the Packers have done so, so there's no need to run Rodgers out of town to remedy the mistake.
