Baker Mayfield's wife Emily opens up about harsh NFL realities as roster cut deadline looms

Baker Mayfield's wife, Emily, recently shared her views on the NFL's roster cut deadline.

Though accompanied by fame and large paychecks, the life of a normal NFL player can be stressful. This holds true for the NFL's roster cuts, where many players lose their jobs right before the season begins.

Olivia Carson, who is married to NFL player Zach Bailey, went on Instagram to share a heartfelt message concerning the matter. According to Olivia, the reality of today's NFL is hard on most families. These families live each day during training camp, hoping their loved one makes the 53-man roster.

"While this life has some really cool aspects, today just isn't one of the best days. OR maybe it is! Either way, we are all real people with real lives. Shout out to all of our NFL friends holding it together over these few days. We are all in this one together," Olivia wrote.

Emily Mayfield chose to share Olivia's words, agreeing with her and sending love to all their friends who experience the same anxieties.

"[Olivia] said it well. Thoughts and prayers are with all of the NFL families today and the couple of weeks to come. The NFL is the wildest ride and not for the faint of heart," Emily wrote.

The NFL roster cuts, which apply to all 32 franchises, end on August 27 with teams trimming their roster from 90 to 53. Naturally, this means multiple cuts, some shocking to loyal fans and players.

Baker Mayfield and his family is set for another football season

Despite these hardships, Baker Mayfield is back for another season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Emily is a constant presence at NFL games.

This season, however, Emily will be accompanied by their months-old daughter, Kova Jade.

Recapping their time at the Bucs' preseason games, Emily wrote in her caption:

"Football is back baby ❤️🏈🏴‍☠️."

With the 2024 NFL season weeks away, one can expect more wholesome moments from Baker Mayfield and his family.

The Bucs open their campaign with a Week 1 game against the Washington Commanders on Sunday, September 8.
