Baker Mayfield's wife Emily backs him as Bucs star dominates Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen and others with shocking QB stat

Baker Mayfield's wife, Emily, posted a stat sheet on her Instagram story pointing out that her husband exceeds top quarterbacks like Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen in one category. These two are the favorites for the MVP this season and will battle it out in the AFC Divisional Round. Meanwhile, the Bucs lost at home to the Commanders in the Wild Card Round and are out of the playoffs.

However, despite the diverging fortunes of their respective teams, Baker Mayfield has had 77 passing touchdowns since 2023, including regular and postseason. That is the highest number among quarterbacks, with Jared Goff next at 71. Lamar Jackson is the only other player with at least 70 touchdowns, and Josh Allen's 63 is fourth on the list. Jordan Love rounds out the top five, with Patrick Mahomes just shy of 60.

That shows that the Buccaneers quarterback has been one of the steadiest performers since arriving in Florida, and his wife duly celebrated. Emily Mayfield posted the stat image on her Instagram, as given below.

Baker Mayfield has resurrected his career after a tumultuous time. He was released by the Browns after the 2021 season and shuttled between the Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Rams in 2022. He has since found a stable home with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Towards the end of his tenure, there were times that Emily had to defend her husband from Cleveland fans, who were less than happy with how their season was going. At that time, she had said,

“You truly don’t know what you have. I have watched him give his all and change the entire culture in CLE, yet he gets so little credit for it. He never asks for recognition and continues to carry the weight day in and day out, despite the hate. If you’re a true fan, SUPPORT our guys. Baker, and everyone else. The hate does NOTHING for them.”

Those words look prophetic today. While Baker Mayfield has 77 passing touchdowns since 2023, the Browns as an organization have 44 touchdowns and 48 interceptions. They also went through four quarterbacks this season: Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston, Dorian Thomposon-Robinson, and Bailey Zappe. Additionally, PJ Walker, Jeff Driskel, and Joe Flacco suited up in 2023.

That's seven quarterbacks in two seasons getting limited production as their former quarterback thrives in Tampa Bay. Emily Mayfield have been on to something when she accused the Browns fans of not realizing what they had.
