Bears fans have had to deal with a torrid season and they were particularly furious after Doug Kramer failed to report against the Vikings on Monday Night Football in an NFC North matchup. With Kirk Cousins leaving Minnesota and Chicago getting Caleb Williams with the first pick of the 2024 NFL draft, many observers were tipping the latter to contend for the NFC North as the former faced a rebuild.
Instead, coming into this Week 15 matchup, the Vikings have already qualified for the playoffs and are fighting for the top spot in the NFC whereas the Bears are trying not to pick first overall in two consecutive years. The difference in how their seasons have gone was perhaps encapsulated best in a second-half play during this clash.
Offensive lineman Doug Kramer came in to line up at fullback as Chicago tried to score their first points of the night. They were parked close to the goal line and his hefty presence was supposed to draw enough defenders to allow running back D'Andre Swift to score a touchdown. It worked to perfection except for the Bears missing a significant detail.
As an offensive lineman lining up in the backfield, Doug Kramer needed to report as eligible to the referee. He did no such thing and the play was called back. Instead of getting a touchdown, the Vikings limited their opposition to a field goal. It was still the visitors' first points of the night but it could have so much more.

Supporters also blamed the team's lack of professionalism and had some choice words for the offensive lineman. Here are some more comments.
"This team is such a joke, man. How does Doug Kramer not know he has to report that’s not coaching that’s just being a dumbass," said one.
"Take the Doug Kramer package and launch it to the damn moon," wrote another.
"Doug Kramer is going down in history as an all time awful Chicago Bear," fumed a third.
Doug Kramer's previous fumble against Commanders adds to Bears' fans' frustration after Vikings mistake
Doug Kramer had lined up as the fullback going back to when Matt Eberflus was still the Bears head coach and they had used it against the Commanders earlier in the season. That time, the offensive lineman had fumbled the ball on a third-and-goal. Instead of taking the lead, it had returned possession to Washington. A loss in that game would start a losing streak that has not ended until tonight.
