Bears fans had an amazing time on the opening night of the 2024 NFL Draft, as they drafted both Caleb Williams and Rome Odunze in the first round. The top overall pick came to them courtesy of the Carolina Panthers' trade with them that moved them up in 2023 to get Bryce Young. They used it for the quarterback and used their own selection to get a weapon for their rookie passer.

It was the best of all worlds for Bears fans, as they got both a generational quarterback and a wide receiver. The proof of why the wideout is regarded as world-class already came from a new Hard Knocks video featuring the Giants. It showed the New York team brass interviewing him and keeping an eye on him during the NFL Combine.

They asked him questions and Rome Odunze pointed out his versatility and willingness to do a job for the team. He also pointed out that he plans to bring the "juice" into the locker room. Ultimately, the Giants decided to go with Malik Nabers, which let the Chicago Bears draft him as the third wide receiver off the block, with Marvin Harrison Jr. going first to the Arizona Cardinals.

The Bears fans were already ecstatic but this new video has got them feeling even more hyped. They took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their disbelief in getting him and their happiness in having him. Here are some of the reactions from the platform.

Other reactions began on saying that getting Rome Odunze was a coup for the Bears and that they were thankful that the Giants passed up on him and took Malik Nabers. Here are some more responses.

"So happy the Giants passed on him!"
"Thank god they took Malik. Thank god"
"No wonder Poles was in full panic mode thinking he wouldn’t make it to 9 [-th pick]"

Bears rookie WR Rome Odunze wants to play for the team that wanted him

Even when Rome Odunze was waiting to be drafted, fans knew he was going to be one of the top receivers off the board. The player knew that too and his comments after being drafted by the Bears could almost be seen as a shot of the Giants, who passed on him despite the impressive outing we saw on Hard Knocks.

When he was introduced in Halas Hall, he made a confession, saying, as reported by The Daily Herald:

“You always want to be somewhere where you’re wanted, right?. So I want to be here, they wanted me here and I think it’s a good connection to have.”

One could say his comments were meant to convey his outlook that he was open to playing for any team and did not have any preference. But after this latest video, one cannot help but wonder if that was a shot at the New York brass. But Chicago fans will not care about any of it as long as Rome Odunze delivers for them.
