The Chicago Bears are deep in the search for their next head coach. Former Tennessee Titans leader Mike Vrabel is the leading favorite, having completed his interview with the organization on Wednesday:
However, some fans of the team seemingly prefer someone else: Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, who has played a major part in turning Jared Goff into one of the best quarterbacks in the league:

Here are some more reactions from fans on X/Twitter:
"If you want to be a serious Football Team, Fire Ryan [Poles] and Hire Ben Johnson," one fan demanded.
"Hire Ben Johnson," another fan said.
"Ben Johnson or we storm halas hall," another added.
The Bears have since been confirmed to have scheduled interviews with both Johnson and his defensive counterpart Aaron Glenn for Saturday.
Bears also eyeing Iowa State's Matt Campbell in HC search
During his press conference on Tuesday, General Manager Ryan Poles hinted that the Bears' coaching search would not be limited to NFL figures:
“It’s going to be a diverse group. This will be different backgrounds from offense, defense, special teams, college, pro. We’re turning every stone to make sure we’re doing this the right way. There’s going to be some names that you don’t expect that are going to surprise you because we’re digging deeper than we ever have before.”
One of the aforementioned unexpected names to emerge in the search is Matt Campbell, the winningest head coach in Iowa State history. The 45-year-old is coming off leading the Cyclones to an 11-3 record – the program's first-ever 10-win season – and appearances in the Big 12 championship game, which they lost to Arizona State; and the Pop Tarts Bowl, which they won against Miami (FL).
Previously linked to the Lions and New York Jets, he has worked with the following NFL players, among others:
- Bears running back David Montgomery
- Jets running back Breece Hall
- San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy (arguably the most statistically prolific Mr. Irrelevant in league history)
- Jets defensive end Will McDonald (the first Cyclone in 50 years to be drafted in the first round)
A major obstacle should the Bears seek to hire him, however, is the contract extension that he received last month, which keeps him in Ames until 2032 at the latest.
