Mike McCarthy's officially a free agent in the coaching world and the Chicago Bears wasted no time to get an interview. ESPN reporter Courtney Cronin, who covers the Bears, reported that McCarthy was interviewed on Wednesday.
While it's not a surprise that the Bears are interested in McCarthy, it was shocking for fans that the team chose to fly him there on a private plane.

Former Washington Commanders head coach Ron Rivera, who was also interviewed earlier in the week, didn't receive the same accommodations. Another fan on social media also noted that Mike Vrabel, who has since been hired by the New England Patriots, also wasn't flown in on a private plane.

Some fans got their jokes in on the matter, joking that McCarthy would "mismanage" the travel arrangements. The former Dallas Cowboys head coach has been criticized for his lack of game management skills in the past.
Another fan was convinced that McCarthy would be hired if the Bears went out of their way to ensure he arrived.

Some Chicago Bears fans continued to be disappointed by the team's decision-making when it comes to interviews. Some insisted they should interview Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson rather than their current candidates. Another insisted that hiring Rivera or McCarthy wouldn't be beneficial for the team.
"Not interviewing Mike Vrabel or Pete Carroll in-person but rolling out the red carpet for Mike McCarthy is WILD."-one person said
"I’m genuinely going to choose a new team if the Bears hire McCarthy. This franchise has absolutely no idea what they’re doing. They perpetually chase mediocrity and correcting old mistakes instead of trying to be great. The owners are clueless nepo babies who meddle and undermine."-one disgruntled fan stated on X

Jerry Jones initially denied Bears request to interview Mike McCarthy
The Chicago Bears' quest to interview Mike McCarthy didn't come easy. Last week, the team requested an interview with the head coach however, their request was denied by the Dallas Cowboys.
Since McCarthy was technically still under contract until Tuesday evening, NFL teams interested in an interview had to request through the Cowboys organizations. Dallas apparently was still hopeful that they could work out a contract with McCarthy and denied the request.
On Monday, the Dallas Cowboys announced that a new contract wouldn't be coming to fruition and a search for a new head coach would begin. The Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints are reported to be two teams interested in hiring McCarthy.
