The Chicago Bears didn't play on Christmas, and they might be the most talked-about team that didn't play on the holiday. While the Caleb Williams 2024 season is almost completely written, he still has one more primetime game. However, no matter how well he plays, it might not change the mind of one NFL analyst.
Speaking on Dec. 25, former wrestler CM Punk called for the Chicago football team owner to sell the team. Currently, the McCaskey family, which owns the team, is worth $1.3 billion, per Forbes.
CM Punk: "Nothing's going to change until the McCaskeys sell the team. ... I don't care. Oh, Lovie Smith is going to change the Bears. Trubisky is going to change the [team]. And then we trade up and we lose Mahomes?"

Punk's proclamation led to a sea of reactions from fans with many agreeing.
"Punk is 100% right. I have been a Bears fan for a very long time and CM Punk is correct," one said.
"Lowkey need this, put them on blast," another said.
"McCaskeys have been on a free ride for too long. Let’s get them out of here," one more agreed.
Some fans, though, didn't fully buy the take against Aaron Rodgers' former rival.
"Folks want change but keep showing up to games buying merchandise," one accused.
"too funny. Have you looked at the value of the team over the last 10 years? Owners compete at the investment level, fans and players on the field. From an investment point of view (i don't think these billionaires played professional sports) the team is doing great," another proclaimed.
"Ownership is not selling the team before a new stadium is built. Everyone in the world knows that. Hire Vrabel, draft Ashton Jeanty, and tell Ryan Poles he is year to year on remaining the Bears GM," another suggested.
Caleb Williams has thrown for 19 touchdowns and five interceptions, but it wasn't enough for CM Punk, whose statement used information from years prior to inform his opinion. All he needed to look at was the team's current 4-11 record.
Exploring the highest and lowest moments of Bears franchise under Virginia Halas McCaskey
The modern ownership era of the Chicago Bears began in 1983 when Virginia Halas McCaskey inherited the Chicago football team from her father, George Halas, per NFL media. Since then, the team has had plenty of highs and lows.
The highest high came long before Caleb Williams, Mitchell Trubisky, or even Jay Cutler. Two years after she inherited the Chicago football team, the franchise won the Super Bowl.
After the 1980s ended, however, playoff appearances became a rare sight. Between 1990 and 2024, the team reached the playoffs nine times, failing to win the Super Bowl even once.
The team has not won a playoff game since 2011, making their current drought arguably their darkest moment. This includes a 3-14 season in 2022 as arguably their worst since the current principal owner Virginia McCaskey took over.
