Ryan Poles will reportedly remain the Chicago Bears' general manager as they begin what is expected to be a very hectic coaching search. But not everyone is happy with the development.
On Tuesday, team president Kevin Warren affirmed his trust in Poles in a press conference:
"When we say long term, a year is a lifetime. I know that's important. I know 2025 is important... I trust the process that he has put together. I'm confident it will yield positive results... We will get this right, and I'm looking forward to it."

Fans, however, were mostly negative on the matter:
"I truly cannot imagine working with this guy every day. No wonder Poles looks and sounds like a shell of himself. Spewing bullshit as high as the Jet d'Eau. Absolute nonsense."
More of the anger can be seen below:
"Please sell the team," one demanded.
"Man we’re screwed aren’t we," another lamented.
"Just fire him already jesus," another begged.
Bears GM Ryan Poles not against trading for head coach
Meanwhile, speaking of the coaching search, Ryan Poles is not above bypassing it to make a blockbuster trade for one of the incumbents on the current landscape. During his press conference, he said:
"We'll look at all avenues to get the best coach here. We're looking for clear vision, a developmental mindset, really good game management, and obviously a plan to develop a quarterback is going to be a key part of that as well."
The Bears had been previously linked to a move for Kyle Shanahan, who refuted rumors after his San Francisco 49ers defeated that team 38-13 in Week 14.
He also hinted at the appearance of some unexpected names during the search:
"There's going to be some names that you don't expect that are going to surprise you because we're digging deeper than we ever have before."
He also said that the development of the current main quarterback Caleb Williams would factor into how the coaching search would unfold:
"You got to look at all the characteristics of what you're looking for in a head coach, and then you got to see what's the best bundle of those to bring in the building. Obviously, we're talking about leadership, accountability, some of those important things that carry over. Regardless of what the situation is, those have to be there."
Among the names expected to be interviewed are current offensive coordinator and interim coach Thomas Brown, former Tennessee Titans coach Mike Vrabel, Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, and Minnesota Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores.
The Dallas Cowboys, however, have denied permission to interview Mike McCarthy.
