Rome Odunze's father responded to Dan Orlovsky's tweet about the Chicago Bears offense and how the team should manage Odunze's apparent inability to get separation from his defenders. On Wednesday, James Odunze shared a three-second clip on X, formerly known as Twitter, to show his son losing a Titans defender as he entered the red zone.
This clip initially led to speculation about Mr. Odunze calling out Caleb Williams or the Bears for ignoring Rome in this specific play, but he clarified that the message was for former NFL quarterback-turned-analyst Dan Orlovsky.
"For clarification, this tweet was just about Dan Orlovsky nonsense statement. It’s not about anything or anybody else. FULL STOP 🐻⬇️," Odunze wrote.

He was referring to Orlovsky's comments about the Bears and Williams putting Odunze in 50-50 situations, as he wasn't getting open against defensive backs.
"The Bears and Caleb are gonna have to get comfortable giving Rome more 'covered' opportunities. Rome isn’t getting open at this level right now— Caleb will have to get comfortable throwing him some 50/50 balls," Orlovsky tweeted on Wednesday.
James Odunze wasn't very appreciative of these comments and he made sure to prove Orlovsky wrong, but the statistics indicate Rome Odunze has failed to make an impact early in the season. In two games, he's been targeted nine times and had three receptions for 44 yards and zero touchdowns. This is poor production considering the attention he gets from Caleb Williams.
Bill Belichick notes an issue for Rome Odunze, Bears' offensive line
The Chicago Bears looked like a potential dark horse for the 2024 NFL playoffs, but the first two games of the season have shown that the team still has work to do to become a serious contender in the NFC. Bill Belichick says that the offensive line holds responsibility for the early struggles.
"[It's] really an issue for Chicago, just in terms of the overall team construction, like the way they decided to do it. The Bears have really put their resources into ... receivers. But they've had problems on their offensive line, and doesn't really look like that's gotten much better," he said on "Get Up" on Tuesday.
Rome Odunze is sharing touches with DJ Moore and Keenan Allen, which can hurt his production during his rookie season. Still, it seems like the Bears' issues go beyond the receiving corps and regardless of what Odunze does, there are bigger problems to address.
