On Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys' season got worse as they succumbed to a 27-21 loss to the Atlanta Falcons and fell to 3-5. To make matters worse, quarterback Dak Prescott suffered a hamstring injury and will be sidelined for a few games. While there are enough games for Dallas and plenty of talent on the roster to salvage the season, Ben Roethlisberger believes the campaign is all but over.

On the latest episode of the Channel Seven podcast, the Pittsburgh Steelers icon claimed that most players on the roster are mentally already in offseason mode and that they'd look back on the campaign as a major disappointment as they had enough talent to have a terrific year. He said:

"They're shipping cars to offseason homes. They're done done even without Dak out for a couple weeks... There's something going on in that team organization whether it's coaches, owner, whatever it is. I'm not going to speculate one way or another. But there's something going on because that team's a better football team in my opinion than what they're showing." [From 35:47]

Roethlisberger also suggested that Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb's massive contract extensions in the offseason handicapped the team's ability to improve. The two-time Super Bowl champion added:

"But again when you spend so much time and effort on two guys in the offseason you it's like you can't load up the rest of the team. I don't see them doing anything the rest of the year." [From 36:35]

What happened to Dak Prescott? Cowboys QB injury timeline

In the Cowboys' 27-21 loss to the Falcons, Dak Prescott suffered a hamstring injury and is set to be sidelined for multiple weeks. Franchise owner Jerry Jones was asked how long the quarterback would be out during his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan radio show.

In response, Jones said Prescott will miss at least four games and that the top brass and the coaching staff are discussing whether to place on the Injured Reserves list. This is a massive blow to an already struggling Cowboys team. They had a mountain to climb and will now have to find a way to do it without their starting quarterback.

In Prescott's absence, backup Cooper Rush will serve as the starter. While the team will be optimistic that he could help them win a few games, it'll likely get worse for Dallas before it gets better.
