Joe Burrow cleared for training camp

Joe Burrow's 2023 NFL season with the Cincinnati Bengals ended disappointingly due to a season-ending wrist injury that required surgery. After spending most of the offseason recovering from his injury, some encouraging news has emerged about his outlook for the upcoming season.

According to Bengals beat writer Kelsey Conway, coach Zac Taylor informed the media that Burrow has been officially cleared for contact after a successful recovery from his wrist injury. This means that he will be able to attend training camp and is expected to be ready to go for Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season.

Many Bengals fans were excited for the recent update:

"The only Joe this country needs," said another.
"Comeback Player of the Year," stated another.

Other fans were more skeptical of Burrow's outlook:

"Man is made of glass," posted another.
"Let's keep him in a bubble until September though," replied another.

While many fans expressed their excitement to get Joe Burrow back on the football field, others tempered their expectations. It's a huge step in the right direction that he was cleared for contact and to return to practice, but he will still need to avoid injury before the start of the season.

The 2023 NFL season wasn't the first time Burrown had a year cut short due to injuries. He was limited to just 10 games in his rookie season before an injury ended his campaign.

The last time he faced a season-ending injury, he returned with a Comeback Player of the Year award and a Super Bowl appearance. Some fans are expecting the same this time around.

Bengals' outlook with a healthy Joe Burrow

In his four years in the NFL, Joe Burrow has suffered season-ending injuries two times, the first time being in the 2020 season. In the following two seasons, he was among the best quarterbacks in the entire NFL. He combined to record an impressive 22-11 regular-season record in those two years and an even better 5-2 playoff record, including a trip to the Super Bowl for the 2021 season.

With a healthy Burrow this year, it's reasonable to expect the Bengals to once again be among the favorites to compete for a Super Bowl ring. They made deep playoff runs in each of his past two full seasons, so his health may be the single biggest key to their potential success.
