A report published by The Enquirer on Wednesday states that Cincinnati Bengals wideout, Jermaine Burton, has been accused of physical assault by a 19-year-old woman that he was dating. Some people thought it was fishy when the Bengals decided to leave Burton at home when they traveled to Pittsburgh to play their divisional rivals, the Steelers, on Saturday.
Later, rumors of a possible assault by Burton surfaced online. Jermaine Burton did not explicitly deny or acknowledge them, but merely posted a cryptic message on his Instagram.
"*lies*. Stop hitting my phone," Burton wrote on his Instagram story.

The Enquirer then investigated the matter and through publicly available records found that a case of assault had been reported against the wideout by a woman he was dating. She, however, refused to press charges against him.
"Jermaine Burton on the Bengals just broke into my house," the victim told 911. "He broke my phone. He's been like pretty abusive. He does a lot of things that I don't tolerate. He was yelling at me in the car and he was screaming at me and saying things."
After the incident in the car, they went their separate ways, but she found Burton already in her house, blocking her way to her own home. Later, he also picked up a knife and threatened to end his life.
"He said he was going to kill himself." She added, "He's a narcissist. He's a manipulator."
When the police arrived at her home, Burton had already left. Thankfully, none of her injuries were serious enough to deserve medical attention. When the Bengals were contacted for a comment, they said that they were aware of the situation and were evaluating it.
Bengals choose to ignore Jermaine Burton's college history
Jermaine Burton was picked 80th overall by the Bengals in the NFL Draft 2023, even though they knew he had a history of misbehavior. Nick Saban, who was his coach at Alabama, tried to warn the Bengals of their decision after he had already been drafted.
"He does the right things on the field," Nick Saban said. "But you got to do the right things in your life all the time so that you can do the best things you can do on the field and be the best you can be."
Despite this, the Bengals chose to look past it and believed that the Bengals' culture would help manage their character concerns. However, Jermaine Burton is yet to make any exceptional contribution to his team.
