The Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills delivered another instant playoff classic in the AFC Championship Game as the two giants battled for a place in the Super Bowl. The Chiefs were on the receiving end of some seemingly fortuitous refereeing decisions. In the second quarter, a contentious catch call went in their favor despite a challenge from the Bills.
The trend continued in the fourth quarter which left Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy extremely frustrated. On a 3rd-and-3 play, tight end Dalton Kincaid had seemingly gotten a first down but the referees ruled him a yard short which left Portnoy incensed. He posted a rant on X about the refereeing in the game:
"The biggest hose job I've ever f**king seen. First of all, this third and three play, this spot is disgusting," Portnoy said. "Knees not down, that's a first down. So that spot, off. That's a bad spot right there by, I don't know, happy yard right there. And then we're gonna go for it on fourth down, which we all know what happens."

On the next play, the Chiefs stopped Josh Allen short of the line-to-gain on the ensuing fourth-down play to get the ball back in Patrick Mahomes' hands. Portnoy believes the Bills should have retained possession and gotten the first down.
"This is clearly a first down. It's like, not even f**king close ... This is the most disgusting thing. I'm not watching football ever again. I quit football. I quit first of all, you only have to get to the line. Are you kidding me? I quit football. It's not even close," he said.
The Chiefs went on to score a touchdown and convert the two-point try to go from trailing by a point to leading by seven.
Chiefs outlast Bills to advance to the Super Bowl
After the Chiefs' touchdown, the Bills responded with one of their own to level the scores at 29-29. Kansas City reclaimed the lead courtesy of a Harrison Butker field goal but left Josh Allen and Buffalo with 3:33 and three timeouts to score a touchdown and book their berth in the Super Bowl.
However, the Bills failed to capitalize on the opportunity and went 4-and-out to turn the ball back over to the Chiefs, who iced the game with a first-down.
Kansas City will face the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl 59 with a chance to become the first team to hoist the Lombardi Trophy three years in a row.
