Cowboys defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, 68, got engaged to model Katarina Miketin, 42, and fans found some jolliness in comparing it to Bill Belichick's own liaison with a much younger partner. The former Patriots' head coach is 72 and his girlfriend Jordon Hudson is 24.

Katarina Miketin announced her engagement with Mike Zimmer on her Instagram account and it was a rare happy event for the Cowboys defensive coordinator, whose team has not been that good on the field. She posted a collage reel on her social media account, saying,

"Five years ago they told us we needed to meet…God knew what He was doing. I thank Him for you, my best friend…so, of course… I said Yes!"

NFL observers were not shy on social media comparing this situation to that of Bill Belichick. Here are some comments from X/Twitter.

Bill Belichick was Mike Zimmer's role model even before Cowboys DC's engagement to Katarina Miketin

While the internet is awash comparing Mike Zimmer's engagement to Katarina Miketin with Bill Belihick's relationship, it is unlikely that the Cowboys defensive coordinator was looking up to the former Patriots head coach for dating advice. The pair met when he was the head coach of the Vikings, and it was at the start of his tenure in Minnesota that Mike Zimmer expressed his admiration for Bill Belichick and all that the then-New England head coach had achieved.

The GOAT head coach has certainly influenced the Cowboys defensive coordinator by what he has done on the field. Both Zimmer and Belichick have been defensive coordinators for Hall-of-Fame coach Bill Parcells, and the former said back in 2014,

"He's (Belichick) obviously a great coach, been a guy I looked up to for a long time, whether when he was a coordinator for the Giants or [a head coach]. I mean, I've known about him, obviously, for a while. Parcells used to talk to me about Bill quite a bit. He's been great for so many years. When he does a great job, he's very thoughtful, gets his team prepared."

It looks to be merely a coincidence that social media has brought them closer together for something unrelated to the football field.
