Josh Allen may not have won a Super Bowl yet in his career, but he has been seen as one of football's better quarterbacks since 2018. Recently though, an anonymous NFL executive referred to the quarterback as "overrated" in an ESPN poll.

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane responded to the comment on Wednesday:

“There are idiots everywhere.”

Beane is just the latest to comment on Allen being referred to as 'underrated'. Former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky, who is a big supporter of Josh Allen, also called the comments on ESPN's "Get Up" earlier this month.

“He’s an idiot, that source, respectfully," Orlovsky said. "That’s moronic to say. In the last four seasons, the only quarterback who has a better plus/minus turnover-to-TD ratio is Patrick Mahomes. He’s the only guy that you would definitely, without question, take over Josh Allen.
"They’ve lost to Kansas City three times in the playoffs. Josh Allen is two or three plays away from being a multi-Super Bowl-appearing and potentially Super Bowl-winning quarterback."

"Overrated" is not a sentiment seen in the Bills quarterback's stat sheet. In six seasons, Allen has a regular season record of 63-30, and although his postseason record of 5-5 may not look impressive, he has been just short of a trip to the Super Bowl. In 2022, he set an NFL record with a passer rating of 149.0 and has thrown for over 4,000 yards in four consecutive seasons.

What did the NFL executive anonymously say about QB Josh Allen?

Late last week, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen was referred to as "overrated" by an anonymous NFL executive. Here's what the executive said:

“One of the more overrated players in the NFL. Immense talent, but he makes a lot of mistakes. He's underdeveloped at winning at the line of scrimmage, tends to lock on to targets, more of a thrower than precision passer, forces throws into traffic.”

To put that into perspective, in the 2023 NFL season, he had a 92.2 passer rating in 17 regular season games while throwing for 4,306 yards and 29 touchdowns. When the passing game isn't an option, Allen isn't afraid to use his legs. He rushed for 524 yards and 15 touchdowns in 2023.

The 2024 NFL season will prove to be interesting for the Buffalo Bills quarterback as he lost his top target in Stefon Diggs.
