Patrick Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to their third straight Super Bowl game after beating the Buffalo Bills, 32-29, in Sunday's AFC Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium.

Mahomes, who signed a 10-year, $450 million deal with the Chiefs in July 2020, is now closing in on Tom Brady's records and some believe that the Kansas City quarterback could be in a position to ask for an even bigger deal if he continues to deliver for the team.

On Monday's episode of the "Morning Show with Boomer & Gio," former NFL quarterback Boomer Esiason suggested that Mahomes has put himself in a position to get an even more lucrative contract than his current one with the Chiefs.

"I think it's unbelievable what Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid have done together," Esiason said. "I mean, they are right on the heels and on the cusp of all the greatness that Bill Belichick and Tom Brady have put out there. They still got a little bit of ways to go, but if they get a three-peat, that's something that Belichick and Brady didn't have."

Esiason also suggested that the Chiefs should give Mahomes a new contract.

"Of course, that's their huge calling card for this particular Super Bowl. But I mean, the amount of wins that Patrick Mahomes keeps accumulating now and he's still 17 or 18 games behind Tom Brady, in terms of games won in the postseason... Interesting to see. Like they got to give him a new contract. They have to give him a new contract." Esiason said.

The Chiefs picked Patrick Mahomes in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He got the starting role in the 2018 season and has nailed down that spot for himself.

Mahomes won his first Super Bowl in 2020, which led to the Chiefs offering him a 10-year deal. He has also led the Chiefs to back-to-back Super Bowls in the past two seasons and is now aiming for a three-peat of Super Bowls.

While Tom Brady finished his career with seven Super Bowls, six with the Patriots and one win the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Mahomes is closing in on the legendary signal-caller. The Chiefs star could add a fourth ring to his collection on February 9 when Kansas City faces the Philadelphia Eagles in the big game.

While Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are on course to make NFL history, they need to be wary of the offensive threat that the Philadelphia Eagles possess.

Philly's quarterback Jalen Hurts has been effective with his passing and running game. The Eagles also have a superstar running back in Saquon Barkley, who has been immense throughout the first season with the team. Philly's wideouts, A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith have also proved themselves on the big stage before.

Furthermore, there are several Philly players still part of the team that lost the Super Bowl to the Kansas City Chiefs in 2023. This time around, the Eagles will want to be on the winning side.

Hence, Mahomes and Co. will need to be at their best when they take on the Eagles in less than two weeks time.
