NFL analyst Boomer Esiason suggested Deion Sanders might orchestrate a move for his son Shedeur Sanders to the New York Giants. The potential strategy mirrors Eli Manning's 2004 draft maneuver, where he forced his way to New York.
The Giants hold the third overall pick in the 2025 draft and are expected to take a quarterback after parting ways with Daniel Jones. However, they are positioned behind the Tennessee Titans and the Cleveland Browns, which could present a roadblock if they wish to select Sanders.
On WFAN Sports Radio on Monday, Esiason discussed with co-host Gregg Giannotti how Coach Prime might influence his son's NFL destination. They drew parallels to Manning's historic draft-day move, when the Ole Miss quarterback refused to play for the San Diego Chargers, leading to his trade to the Giants. Manning ended up winning two Super Bowls in New York.
"If you ask me, Tennessee and Cleveland, if I were Shedeur Sanders and Deion, I would not want to go there," Esiason said.

He emphasized the importance of landing with the right coaching staff for young quarterbacks' development.
"A lot of these guys that come out, you just never know. I didn’t know Bo Nix was going to be this successful, but I knew he was going to the right coach. So these guys have got to get to the right spot with the right coaches."
Giannotti reinforced this perspective:
“If Deion is controlling what’s going on, there is no way he lets Shedeur Sanders go to the Cleveland Browns. You can’t,” Giannotti said. “If I were Shedeur Sanders, I would rather go to the Jets. That’s saying something.
“They may want to do it, but Deion is not gonna let that happen.”
The Giants finished with 3-14 record but missed out on the top pick after defeating the Indianapolis Colts in Week 17.
Draft expert points to Shedeur Sanders' value despite bowl game struggles
Mel Kiper Jr. defended Shedeur Sanders' draft stock on ESPN First Draft after a challenging bowl game against BYU. The performance raised eyebrows as Sanders managed just 16 completions with two interceptions.
"I don't think Shedeur should have played in this game," Kiper said on Friday, questioning the decision to risk his draft status.
He added perspective to the quarterback class:
"Guess what? Who's the 3rd quarterback? Ain't nobody you're excited about."
Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders have separated themselves from the rest of the quarterback class. Quinn Ewers has lacked consistency, while Carson Beck has battled injury concerns and Jalen Milroe has struggled with passing accuracy.
