Brandon Aiyuk's contract saga and his repeated flirtation with Jayden Daniels have animated discussion this offseason, with a swap from 49ers to Commanders widely mooted. And the irate wide receiver, who feels undervalued by his current franchise, has given his clearest indication yet of his unhappiness with his current situation.

Brandon Aiyuk appeared on "The Pivot" podcast with Jayden Daniels in tow, even though they currently play for different teams. But they used to play together in college and have a good connection. And during a segment, the 49ers player said, pointing to the rookie Commanders quarterback,

"That's why I am like, when we go, when we talk about social media and, sh*t, there's a quarterback right there (gesturing towards Jayden Daniels). I am thinking about what I can do with him, I am thinking about if the Niners don't want me to come back and play with them, I am thinking about what I could do. I know what I could do."

Brandon Aiyuk's bromance with Jayden Daniels is of no interest to Commanders, 49ers

This is not the first time that Brandon Aiyuk has flirted with the possibility of playing for the Commanders if he were to leave the 49ers. He called his former college teammate at Washington now on FaceTime a few days ago and discussed with him, publicly, that San Francisco did not want him.

But that has not got any movement going on behalf of the teams. The Commanders were reportedly discussing a trade for Brandon Aiyuk but chose to go against it. The 49ers meanwhile, are reportedly keen on having him back and see him as a valued player but not at the deal value that he wants.

The longer this drags on, the tougher it is for everyone. Jayden Daniels would love a premium wide receiver to help him in his rookie season on a team that finished second-last in the league last season. But his team has not agreed to a trade. Brandon Aiyuk would also like to go there but the 49ers are holding firm.

It remains to be seen what form a final deal takes and where the wide receiver eventually ends up playing. Because there is no guarantee that even if Washington agrees to a trade, that they are willing to give him a much better contract value than San Francisco.

This could drag on some more time yet, but it is in the interest of every party to have this closed before training camp begins, so everyone knows where the roster stands and who they are practicing with.
