NFC Divisional Playoffs - Dallas Cowboys vs San Francisco 49ers

Brock Purdy has a 1/3 chance of pulling off the unbelievable and becoming the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year from third-choice quarterback and last selection in the previous NFL draft.

The San Francisco 49ers quarterback, along with New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson and Seattle Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker, are contenders for the honor after just six regular-season games and two playoff contests.

Purdy'a surge is impressive, given that no one could have predicted that he would be nominated for something like this two months ago.

After the Niners selected Brock Purdy with the No. 262 overall pick, he was sunk in the roster behind starting QB Trey Lance and seasoned second-choice Jimmy Garoppolo. His chances of making the squad this season were slim, but he now seems to have defied all odds.

Who has had a better season between Brock Purdy and Garrett Wilson?

Besides the MVP, the competition for offensive rookie of the year is one of the most intriguing contests this year.

For a while, it seemed as though either wide receiver Garrett Wilson of the New York Jets or running back Kenneth Walker III of the Seattle Seahawks would be the clear favorite to win.

Brock Purdy, though, came into prominence when Jimmy Garoppolo was injured against the Miami Dolphins in the 13th round of games. Since then, he has grown to be the league's favorite quarterback.

Purdy has been on fire since beating Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 35-7 in his debut outing.

Brock Purdy has hit 68.3% of his throws for 1,308 yards, 13 scores and just three INTs since taking over at the center. He has also scored three times on the run. Purdy has a 7-0 record as a starter and an excellent supporting cast, which could propel him to the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year honor.

Meanwhile, after being selected in the first round, Wilson emerged as the top receiver for the Jets. He worked with passers Joe Flacco, Zach Wilson and Mike White and finished first among rookies with 1,103 receiving yards and four TDs on 83 receptions.

Moreover, Wilson has had three outings with at least 100 receiving yards this campaign (115 against the Denver Broncos, 162 against the Minnesota Vikings, and 102 against the Cleveland Browns). He scored two TDs apiece against the Chicago Bears and the Cleveland Browns.

Considering all the stats, Walker has had a productive campaign of his own too, just like Purdy.
