Russell Wilson handed the Denver Broncos arguably their worst Super Bowl defeat in franchise history, but some would argue that he has also handed the team their worst Christmas defeat as well. At least, he handed himself the worst game of his career.

According to ESPN, Broncos analyst Andrew Mason, the quarterback had a 3.5 quarterback rating. In Week 16, it was the lowest QBR among 30 quarterbacks (Justin Herbert and Nick Foles have yet to play this week on Monday Night Football). It was the second-worst single-game QBR of any quarterback this season, trailing only Houston's Kyle Allen, who had a 3.0 QBR.

After Russell Wilson's latest blowout defeat, will the quarterback take the field again this season?

The Broncos defeated the Texans in Week 2. For those fans saying that this was just one game, the Broncos quarterback's struggles have been an all-year pattern. This year, he has an average rating of 34.9, which is 29th of 34 quarterbacks in 2022.

After months of pain, Broncos fans have attempted to understand what is wrong with the team and how they could fix it. Despite giving up 51 points on Christmas to a quarterback on his third team since Week 18 of last year, fans believe the defense hasn't been an issue overall.

However, the issue has been with the offense. Most fans have listed Nathaniel Hackett as the one responsible. Some point to the scheme and how it hasn't translated to Denver in the same way it did in Green Bay. While Hackett was with the Packers in 2021, Davante Adams saw the vast majority of the catches (123), deservedly so.

That said, the rest of the receivers saw scraps and most agree it came to a head against the San Francisco 49ers in the Divisional Round of the playoffs. This season, Broncos fans have lamented Wilson over-targeting Courtland Sutton, the team's number-one receiver.

Simply put, the scheme hasn't lined up as well in Denver as it did in Green Bay, where it was already showing cracks.

Russell Wilson faces the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 17 and many fans would settle for their first victory over the team since Peyton Manning was in town. Will the Denver Broncos find a way to finish the season on a high note?
