Browns DL Lonnie Phelps arrested after drunkenly crashing SUV into Key West restaurant

On Wednesday night in Key West, Florida, police arrested Lonnie Phelps after he crashed an SUV into a restaurant while intoxicated. As per TMZ, the Cleveland Browns player did not cooperate during the police investigation that followed the incident.

The incident occurred outside of the Red Shoe Island Bistro, and when the police arrived on the scene, Phelps and his girlfriend were identified. However, neither the Browns player nor his partner were reportedly cooperative with the authorities and constantly complained.

TMZ reported that Phelps didn't behave well at the police station and refused to take the breathalyzer. The Kansas product also urinated on himself while sitting on a chair. He has to appear in court next month for DUI and property damage.

Lonnie Phelps signed with the Cleveland Browns as an undrafted free agent last year. He will earn a base salary of $795,000 this upcoming season and currently serves as the team's fourth-choice left defensive end.

Phelps has yet to make his NFL debut but had a stellar career in college. He played three years at Miami and one year at Kansas before declaring for the draft. In 41 games at the collegiate level, Phelps had 83 solo tackles, 31 assists, 29.5 tackles for loss, and 23.0 sacks.

It will be interesting to see if the recent incident will result in disciplinary action against him by the Browns or the NFL.
