Quarterback Bryce Young has lost his starting role with the Carolina Panthers. The Panthers have lost the season's first two games, and the team is looking to try something new. Veteran quarterback Andy Dalton will start against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 3.
Fans were shocked on social media by this news, just one day after Panthers coach Dave Canales said he wouldn't replace Young. On Sunday, Young had just 84 passing yards in a 26-3 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
Fans had various thoughts about the decision. Some agreed that it was the right decision. Others joked that the Panthers don't have a plan and have now possibly wasted their 2023 first-round draft pick.

Others accused the Carolina Panthers of failing the quarterback and another said that the team didn't build around the quarterback to get him success. One fan said that turning to Dalton, even if he is a veteran in the NFL, won't change the outcome if the offensive line isn't solid.
"Wait no. He needs 5 more years to prove it. He has no help," one person said.
"The Panthers watching Bryce run for his life behind that OL and thinking "yeah let's put 36 year old Andy Dalton back there" is the funniest thing ever," one fan questioned the decision.
The majority of fans didn't support the Panthers' decision. They will now face a Las Vegas Raiders team coming off a come-from-behind win against the Baltimore Ravens.
That's crazy. Hopefully Young comes back in a strong way," one fan said.
"Amazing that not very long ago they had Baker and Darnold on the same team. Both 2-0 on their respective teams!" one person wrote.
Bryce Young career stats with the Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers selected Bryce Young with the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft. The former Heisman Trophy winner was handpicked as the future quarterback of the franchise. However, that appears to have ended after just 18 starts.
As the starter, Young completed 346 of 583 passes for 3,122 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He also fumbled 11 times, six of which he lost.
It's also worth noting that Dave Canales is now his third head coach in his short tenure in the NFL.
