On Sunday, Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears traveled to State Farm Stadium to take on the Arizona Cardinals. The rookie quarterback was looking to bounce back after an underwhelming performance in their Week 8 loss to the Washington Commanders.
Williams completed only 10 of his 24 pass attempts for 131 yards and no touchdowns, ending his four-game streak of throwing at least one TD pass. The first overall pick in the 2024 draft had an impactful game as a rusher, though. He carried the ball nine times for 47 yards to help make up for his inefficient passing.
The Bears would've expected Williams to have a much-improved outing against the Cardinals, who owned the seventh-worst pass defense in the league. However, it did not pan out as they hoped.

Caleb Williams' stats vs. the Cardinals in Week 9
Here are Caleb Williams' numbers from the Bears' 29-9 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday:
- Pass attempts: 41
- Pass completions: 22
- Passing yards: 216
- TDs: 0
- INTs: 0
- Sacks: 6
- Passer Rating: 68.8
- Rush attempts: 4
- Rushing yards: 6
For the second straight week, the quarterback struggled in the passing game and completed only 53.7% of his pass attempts for 216 yards and no touchdowns. He did not have any impact as a rusher, as he carried the ball four times for six yards.
Offensive coordinator Shane Waldron did not hold the rookie back and allowed him to attempt 41 passes. However, he could find the right synergy with his receivers.
The Cardinals' defense also did a terrific job of keeping Williams on his toes and making his life difficult when he dropped back to attempt a pass. They sacked Williams six times, the most Arizona has registered in a single game this season.
If the result and his performance weren't bad enough already, Williams seemingly suffered a leg injury on the game's final play. Linebacker Julian Okwara's tackle left him worse for wear, as he limped off the field while the clock wound down to zeroes.
There was no official word on the extent of the quarterback's injury at the time of writing. Chicago is scheduled to take on the New England Patriots in Week 10 and it's too early to tell whether Caleb Williams will be fully healthy for that game.
