Calvin 'Megatron' Johnson reveals what could doom Lions' season - Source: Imagn

One can only wonder how the current Lions' team would have fared if Calvin Johnson was still playing. One of the greatest wide receivers to ever play the game played in Detroit at a time when they were perennial losers. Yet, the Lions are currently 12-1 in 2024, have confirmed their place in the playoffs, and look like the best group in the league. Having the Megatron might have made them unbeatable.

However, Calvin Johnson is not going to return to the field and Detroit will have to do their best with what they have. That does not mean that Megatron does not have some words of wisdom that they should not take seriously. Speaking on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams, the wide receiver said the only way the Lions could lose is if they become their own worst enemy. Emphasizing the need for limiting turnovers, he said,

"I mean really ourselves turning the ball over, that's what's going to stop us. any kind of turnovers. I mean we shoot ourselves in the foot. That's the only thing that stops this team."

Calvin Johnson highlights injuries as something that could make life difficult for the Lions

Calvin Johnson said that injuries can slow Detroit down apart from turnovers. He was especially concerned about something happening on the defensive side of the ball because it is often critical to postseason form. "So that and injury, I mean, but obviously injury hasn't done so much. But, I mean, I don't want to lose. I mean, I love my defense, because obviously they say defense wins championships... it's always the next minute mentality, but we gotta, you know, try to stop losing some of these guys, and that's the part of the game."

The Megatron said that the way to ease injury issues is to manage the roster and distribute the workload, especially toward the end of the season when the games come thick and fast. He continued,

"It's 100% injury game. So you just got to try to manage, especially this time of the year, when you're playing so many games back to back."

Calvin Johnson might not be part of the Detroit Lions as they embark on trying to win their first Super Bowl but that does not mean he is not thinking deeply about their fortunes.
