Former NFL MVP Cam Newton shared his thoughts on whether Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills can overcome Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs. The road to the Super Bowl runs through the Chiefs.

As long as they have Mahomes under center, they will be tapped as the primary contenders to life the Lombardi Trophy in February on the grandest stage of them all. But it appears that Allen's Bills are hot on their trail.

Allen has been playing like a true blue MVP this year, putting the offense on his back. Over the past two games, the Bills have racked up 90 points in all. For all intents and purposes, Allen is the frontrunner to be crowned the league's most valuable player, but none of that would matter in January if the Bills and Chiefs go head-to-head.

Like many, Newton is a bit apprehensive about Allen's chances of overcoming the Patrick Mahomes juggernaut. On his 4th and 1 Show, the Carolina Panthers legend outlined concerns about Allen's record against the Chiefs:

“I hope so," Newton said, talking about Allen's chances of beating the Chiefs. He’s playing like an MVP, but if he don’t got a good game? Phew!
"The question going in is what do you do with (Gabe) Davis gone . With (Stefon) Diggs gone. Brandon Beane did his big one with that. But don’t nobody talk about Josh Allen underperforming vs Patrick Mahomes. He doesn’t have a decorated career like Lamar Jackson. Doesn’t have an MVP. I don’t even know if Josh Allen has been an All-Pro yet."

Josh Allen has one All-Pro selection, making the Second Team in 2020.

What is Josh Allen's record vs the Kansas City Chiefs?

The Bills beat the Chiefs 30-21 in Week 11, where Allen threw for 262 yards and a tuddie. He's 4-1 against the Chiefs in his career. But when it's nut-cutting time, the numbers fall off a cliff.

Buffalo is 0-3 with Allen under center against KC in the playoffs. Last time, the Bills lost the AFC Divisional Game to the Chiefs 27-24 despite Allen's best efforts, leading the Bills with 72 rushing yards and two rushing scores.
