Former NFL MVP Cam Newton believes he could return to professional football shape in as little as two weeks. The star quarterback's recent comments shed light on his potential return to the NFL after a three-year absence.
Newton, who last played for the Carolina Panthers in 2021, has been adapting to life beyond football while raising eight children with three different women. The 35-year-old quarterback earned league MVP honors in 2015 and led the Panthers to Super Bowl 50. He recently welcomed his eighth child with his girlfriend Jasmin Brown in March 2024.
He was speaking on his show "4th & 1 With Cam Newton" on January 16, 2025. The former star quarterback provided an in-depth breakdown of the preparation needed for an NFL comeback;
"Two weeks... But to feel confident, a month. Two weeks will be rushed. It would be like training multiple times a day, eating right, like, locked all the way in, in regards to, like, almost alienation," Newton said around 35:25 mark.

Cam Newton's journey from superman to reality check
The personal toll of leaving professional football has transformed Cam Newton's outlook;
"It hurts me knowing that I can't provide like I once did. It hurts thinking that I'm Superman, but in reality, I'm just a man," he revealed during his Special Forces appearance.
His comeback strategy reflects years of professional experience;
"The month, ideally, will be similar to that same kind of deal, limiting extracurricular activities, eating, dieting right. And just getting the flow of putting your body emulating game wear and tear... Now how I played the game, you can't emulate that, but just throwing a lot, multiple throws a day, and the treatment that comes with that too," Newton explained.
Newton's family has grown significantly since his NFL days. He shares three sons—Chosen Sebastian, Camidas Swain, and Cashmere Saint—and daughter Sovereign-Dior Cambella with ex-girlfriend Kia Proctor.
At 35, Cam Newton sees himself stepping into new territory;
"I'm going into a different phase of my life that's going to require a different form of myself," he shared on Special Forces. "There's a famous quote that says in order to get something that you've never had, you got to do something that you've never done."
His words suggest both acceptance of change and readiness for whatever challenges lie ahead, whether on or off the football field.
