Can Tom Brady make it to 8 Super Bowl rings? Mike Florio claims potential wildcard showdown vs. Cowboys could be Bucs QB’s ‘legacy moment’

Tom Brady came out of retirement for a 23rd season with one thing on his mind, winning the eighth Super Bowl of his career. The 45-year-old is in his third (and what could be his final) season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

ProFootballTalk senior analyst Mike Florio believes Brady can make another run at the Super Bowl, but he needs to take over and put emotions aside.

Florio said:

"Brady, I think needs to and I think he will forget about whose feelings you may hurt. Forget about who you may piss off. 'This is a legacy moment. This is the time for me to take over. And anybody who's not on the same page with what I think we need to do need to sit down and shut up. And we're gonna go do this.'

"And it's, you know if he could, I don't know, I've been thinking lately. Maybe he is going to play next year. I heard last night on Monday night countdown, I think it was Steve Young saying, you know, a lot of these guys who retire it's because you know, they can't run anymore."

Florio added that Brady can still throw and foresee a Cowboys-Buccaneers wildcard matchup.

"They can't throw anymore. They can't do it anymore. I couldn't do it anymore. That's you know, that's what Young was saying. I'm here watching Brady, he can still do it. He can still do it. Why would he stop? So my point is, though, he knows what these moments mean. And this is legacy building. This is the stuff that potentially gets you to bring number eight, as well.

"We're gonna see Tom slip into that mode we saw last night it may not be enough. And I'm not God. I mean, the thought of predicting the Bucs to win, like if that's the NBC wildcard game and it's Bucs and Cowboys."

Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will likely win the NFC South

New Orleans Saints v Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Following the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 17-16 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Monday night, the Bucs improved to 6-6 on the season.

If there were a time for the division to have been shaken up, it would have been Monday night with a Saints victory. Had New Orleans won, they'd be tied in second at 5-8 with the Atlanta Falcons, and the Bucs would have had a slimmer lead in the division with a 5-7 losing record.

Given how close the division race is and how the Bucs are underperforming, there is a chance they could not make the playoffs and not win the division.

On the other hand, they could go on a run with one of the most clutch quarterbacks in history and have one more shot at the Super Bowl.
