Travis Kelce may not have had an extraordinary day in terms of touchdowns during the Christmas Day game, but he still had a historic day. With the victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Kansas City Chiefs now have the number one seed in the AFC.
During the game, Kelce surpassed 1,000 career receptions, and his one touchdown catch catapulted him past Chiefs TE legend Tony Gonzalez's record of 76 touchdowns with his own 77.
NFL fans praised the TE on X.

Legendary Chiefs TE Tony Gonzalez gives Travis Kelce his flowers
Shortly after the game, Tony Gonzalez had a message for Kelce. Despite beating his record, the former Chiefs TE had nothing but praise for Kelce.
"Couldn't be prouder of you, couldn't be happier for you."
Earlier this week, legendary New England Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski had also praised Travis Kelce and said he had a couple more years to go before retiring from the NFL.
"With Travis’s career in the future, I believe he can go at least another two years. The guy has 85+ catches this year. We’re talking about his stats being down. Are you kidding me? I just looked at him. 80+ catches this year. How are your stats down if you have 80+ catches at 35 years old? I think I’ve only had 80+ catches one time in my career and I was 22 years old. I had 90 catches that year.”
Can the Chiefs clinch their third straight Super Bowl this season and give Kelce a fitting farewell should he decide to hang up his cleats after the season?
