Jim Harbaugh's return to the NFL could not have gone any worse. When the former Stanford, San Francisco 49ers, and Michigan head coach was announced to be joining the Los Angeles Chargers, everyone was excited. After all, here was a former quarterback turned offensive guru who would make Justin Herbert the second coming of Alex Smith.
But without the one-time Pro Bowler under center on Saturday against the Seattle Seahawks, things did not go according to plan. Easton Stick was intercepted once, while Luis Perez and Max Duggan failed to muster a rally as the Chargers went on to lose 3-16 at home.
And soon enough, calls for Harbaugh's firing emerged:

More of the rage and ridicule can be seen below:
"Clamped by the best coaching hire of the season," one claimed.
"I thought Harbaugh was gonna change this team," another wondered.
"Gonna be a long season," yet another sighed.
Jim Harbaugh faced off against son Jay in Chargers-Seahawks game
Jim Harbaugh may have lost on the field on Saturday, but he did win in life. The preseason meeting was his first time coaching against his son Jay, who had been part of his coaching staff at Michigan, mainly as special teams coordinator, before joining Mike Macdonald at Seattle in the same role.
The day before the game, Jay said that his father's roster-building excited him, especially with a few players he knew from the Wolverines (like linebacker Junior Colson):
"It'll be cool to see them in pregame and all that and it's just neat to see them in that first step just like us, that first step on a journey where you're trying to build a championship team, and it'll be neat to see in person."
Jim Harbaugh, meanwhile, could only beam at his son's career progression:
"Can't wait... Very proud. I know it's going to be a real competition and real test for our special teams unit. I know he's going to bring it. It's really good for us. At the same time, that's going to be cool. We've been on opposite sidelines two or three other times, but it's all love."
Besides his work with his father, Jay also served as an assistant under his uncle (and Harbaugh's brother) John at the Baltimore Ravens.
