If the Kansas City Chiefs had one complaint last season, it was that their wide receivers were not great and they drafted Xavier Worthy in the first round this year to rectify that issue. And it looks like it was a great hire if his first drive is anything to go by.
The Baltimore Ravens were leading 7-0 after having scored on their first drive with new running back and star player, Derrick Henry. The Chiefs needed an immediate response at home. And they did so when after a couple of drives, Patrick Mahomes had them close to the endzone.
Then they ran a play that had all Andy Reid's hallmarks. A cute flick back to Worthy in the backfield allowed him to accelerate into space and despite the best efforts of the Ravens defenders, they could not get close to him. Reminiscent of when Tyreek Hill used to torment the opposition, the rookie left everyone behind as he danced in to score.

Fans were immediately thrilled and they could not help but comment on his speed. They took to X/Twitter, to make their point.
Here are some of the top reactions from fans:
Others continued to agree with the sentiment and Chiefs fans were salivating at the prospect of having a different dimension to their attack. Here are some more responses:
"Chiefs found their Tyreek Hill replacement," one fan said.
"Andy Reid is going to have fun drawing up plays for him. He was FLYING," another said.
"He didn’t even need to weave or nothing, he just ran through em," one fan added.
Xavier Worthy does not solve Chiefs' reception problems in full
While Chiefs fans were undoubtedly happy about having Xavier Worthy's speed, what must have worried them were continued drops coming at inopportune moments. Isiah Pacheco, who had a great start running from the backfield, missed a perfect pass from Patrick Mahomes.
Then, inexplicably, Travis Kelce dropped a pass close to the endzone which led to a third down and subsequent field goal instead of having the chance to try for a touchdown. We saw last year that Kansas City has enough talent and know-how to overcome all of these problems to win the Super Bowl. The addition of Worthy only augments the offense.
But in a game of inches, such drops could prove crucial. Chiefs fans will now need to hope that over the season Xavier Worthy can catch as well as he can run, along with others also pulling their fair share, if they are to achieve a three-peat.
