The Kansas City Chiefs traded up in the first round of this year's draft to select wide receiver Xavier Worthy. With the Chiefs having one of the least productive wide receiver corps last season, the team added Worthy with the expectation of becoming a playmaker for quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
In the Chiefs' second pre-season game, Worthy showcased his speed, blowing past the Detroit Lions' secondary for a 22-yard touchdown reception thrown by backup QB Carson Wentz.
Worthy set the NFL combine record this year, running a blazing 4.21-second 40-yard dash, breaking John Ross' previous record of 4.22 seconds. With Worthy being one of the fastest players in NFL history, fans think he can be a Tyreek Hill kind of playmaker for the Chiefs and Mahomes.

"Better than Tyreek is what he is," a fan said.
"Worthy just put the league on notice," another person wrote.
"Xavier Worthy is on another level with that speed. Defenders can't keep up, and it's not even close," one fan reacted.
The Chiefs traded up with the Buffalo Bills from pick No. 32 to No. 28 to select Worthy. At the time, some thought the Bills would have used that pick to select Worthy to improve their wide receiver corps.
Fans on social media questioned how the Bills and the rest of the NFL allowed the Chiefs to draft Worthy. Some think Worthy and Mahomes could be an unfair, lethal combination.
"This all the Bills' fault," one person said.
"How did the teams around the league allow this to happen? That's not even with the #1 Quarterback," one fan wrote.
The new-look Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver corps features Xavier Worthy and Marquise Brown
It's no secret that the Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver corps has been the team's weakness since Tyreek Hill left before the 2022 season.
In his seven-year career, Patrick Mahomes has only had one wide receiver (Tyreek Hill) record 1,000 or more receiving yards in a single season. Last season, the Chiefs' leading wide receiver in yards and touchdowns was rookie Rashee Rice.
Rice has a chance to miss some of the 2024 season due to a potential suspension regarding his hit-and-run arrest from earlier this year.
The Chiefs added speedy wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown in free agency and drafted wide receiver Xavier Worthy. Worthy, Brown and Rice are expected to elevate the Chiefs' receiving corps in 2024.
