The situation of Kadarius Toney with the Kansas City Chiefs will be one of the most interesting to follow around in the 2024 season. The wide receiver struggled in his career ever since making it to the NFL, and while he's a two-time Super Bowl champion, his roster spot is in jeopardy.

There might be a new feature on his role with the team, though. According to head coach Andy Reid, the Chiefs are giving Toney some snaps at the running back position, to better utilize his skills and make him a threat in the offense again.

Kansas City Chiefs fans, however, were torn about the move. While some of them agreed that it would be smart to give the ball in Toney's hands without the need to catch, others thought that it wouldn't work with him anyway.

One fan cast doubt on Toney's ability to be an every-down back due to his questionable hands.

"Gotta be a 1st and 2nd down back. Can’t count on him to catch the ball out of the backfield.", a fan said.

Meanwhile, another fan envisions Kadarius Toney thriving in a role similar to Deebo Samuels in San Francisco.

"He would be incredible in that Deebo 49ers role," one fan believes.

A couple of fans also shared contrasting opinions.

"With his speed and his ability to cut and juke defenders, I can see using him at RB and how it may be able to work", other analyzed.
"Pacheco stock won’t plummet. He will fumble twice in a game and Reid will bench him for good" was another opinion.

Kadarius Toney's last chance in 2024

After a dreadful 2023, where he was benched and criticized for struggling during the whole year, his chances aren't truly positive to make an impact as a starter. Kadarius Toney is fast, but his catch rate is poor, he drops a lot of easy passes and isn't a trustworthy weapon.

The Chiefs improved in 2024, signing Marquise Brown in free agency and drafting Xavier Worthy in the first round. Sure, it's not like they have Justin Jefferson and A. J. Brown on the roster, but at least the situation will be much better than it was a season ago.

Kansas City might found a way to use him as a weapon with the ball in his hands just like Mecole Hardman used to do. But his progress has stalled massively in the past two years.
