Ja'Marr Chase does not like Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs. In a recent NFL Films clip that was posted on the league's X account, previously known as Twitter, the Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver was asked whom he believed would be the no. 1 player on the 2024 Top 100 list.

And while he believed it would be Patrick Mahomes, he was, in his own words, "salty," refusing to say the name and instead pivoting towards his teammate Joe Burrow. He said:

"I'm not saying him. I give credit when it's due but I'm not saying his name. I'm not saying his name brother, I'm sorry. Joe Burrow. I'm not saying the guy's name. He is good he is amazing, he's good, not gonna lie. I'm salty though, I'm a little salty. Two years in a row, but I'm putting Burrow first."

Fans mocked Chase for being 'salty' and picking Burrow over Mahomes.

"Guy is pathetic," wrote a fan.

More of it can be seen below:

"Mahomes in his head rent free," one said.
"He doesn’t need to say it…", another said.
"Mahomes owns him," still another said.

What are Ja'Marr Chase's odds of winning 2024 Offensive Player of the Year?

Even as Ja'Marr Chase refuses to acknowledge Patrick Mahomes as the best player in the NFL right now, he is still widely recognized as one of the best wide receivers.

As a rookie, he was named Offensive Rookie of the Year, second-team All Pro, and Pro Bowler and helped the Bengals end their record-long playoff win drought and reach the Super Bowl. Since then, he has continued to be prolific, hitting 1,000 yards and making the Pro Bowl twice more.

2024 could prove to be a momentous season for him, as he gets Joe Burrow back after a wrist injury. And according to ESPN's Erin Dolan, the three-time Pro Bowler looks primed to win Offensive Player of the Year.

On Wednesday's episode of ESPN BET Live, she said:

"I think he has a huge, huge season with Joe Burrow being back under center... Knowing that this is a team that also doesn't have Joe Mixon anymore, you factor in Zack Moss is going to be the running back, he's going to be throwing to Ja'Marr Chase non-stop."

Bengals ownership ripped for not extending Ja'Marr Chase

But despite his productivity, Chase may be facing an uncertain future soon. He is entering the penultimate year of his contract and has been wanting an extension.

Owner Mike Brown received much condemnation from insider Adam Schefter and former safety Ryan Clark for not getting a deal done during the offseason. They said Tuesday on NFL Live:

"Schefter: If you're Ja'Marr Chase, and you're advising him, why are you stepping on the football field for $1 million when there are other receivers making over $30 million? Somehow, I don't see that going smoothly."
"Clark: You know what Mike Brown is essentially going to Ja'Marr Chase's house and doing? He's putting on a mask and saying, 'Put the money in the bag.' Because he is absolutely robbing him."

Chase did not participate in Wednesday's camp, with head coach Zac Taylor explaining that the team will be more relaxed with veterans like him.
