Now that the New York Jets' season (5-12) has ended, the team is searching for a new head coach and general manager after they fired Robert Saleh and Joe Douglas mid-season. As of the time of writing, they have already put in requests to interview the Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy, the Minnesota Vikings' defensive coordinator Brian Flores, and Detroit Lions' DC Aaron Glenn.
One name that has caught fans' attention is Arthur Smith, who is currently the OC of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers (10-7) have had a great run this year, making it to the postseason. However, in the final four games of the season, they only recorded losses.
This wouldn't be the first time Smith has interviewed for the Jets' head coach role. As reported by Tom Pelissero, Smith previously interviewed twice for the role four years ago. However, the Jets decided to go with Robert Saleh and he went to the Atlanta Falcons.

Jets fans took to X (formerly, Twitter) to voice their opinions against their team hiring the Steelers OC. One fan said that he would rather have Rex Ryan in their team than Arthur Smith.
"I'd choose Rex over this bum"
One Steelers fan sarcastically remarked that Arthur Smith could be the perfect fit for the Jets.
"Fits the Jets perfectly.. should be an immediate hire… *please take him*"
"Jets are unserious" a fan said.
Other fans also joined in with their reactions to the news.
"LMAO...the jokes write themselves" one fan said.
"Have they not watched the Steelers offense this yr?" another fan said.
"Are the Jets just going to interview every bad choice at this point?" one fan said.
Arthur Smith to be snubbed again as Rex Ryan confident he will land the Jets HC role
As reported by NFL insider, Adam Schefter, Rex Ryan who previously served as head coach of the Jets and the Buffalo Bills, expressed confidence that he would land the role, even going so far as to say that the competition "wasn't close."
"Oh 100 percent, absolutely I do," Ryan said. "The reason I think I'm going to get it is because I am the best guy and it isn't close. The thing that you have to do it you have to connect with their football team and their fanbase. The way they play, that's the most important thing. Not just the X's and O's"
Ryan served as the head coach of the Jets for six seasons from 2009 to 2014 and ended his stint with a 46-50 record.
