Chris Broussard wants New York Jets to go after Lamar Jackson and not Aaron Rodgers

With Derek Carr signing with the New Orleans Saints, the New York Jets are expected to go all in for Aaron Rodgers this offseason. The Green Bay Packers quarterback is yet to make a decision regarding his future, but it may come soon.

Although the Jets don't have the luxury of approaching Carr anymore, Chris Broussard believes that they should stay away from Rodgers and instead go after Lamar Jackson.

Here's what Chris Broussard said on "First Things First:"

"I know you don't think Aaron Rodgers leading them to the Super Bowl. So why should I pay him $60 million to do that? I think what they should do, I wait to see what the Ravens do with Lamar Jackson.
"If they place him on the non-exclusive tag, go ahead and guarantee him a full contract and bring him to New York."

There is a very high possibility that Lamar Jackson might get placed with a non-exclusive tag and it will most certainly signal his exit from the Baltimore Ravens.

Teams like the New York Jets or the Atlanta Falcons can simply get Jackson by offering two first-round picks. Jackson is much younger than Rodgers and has many years ahead of him, due to which Chris Broussard thinks would be the best decision for the Jets.

The clock is ticking for the Jets and they need to make a quick decision regarding who will be their starting quarterback next season.

Aaron Rodgers needs to make a decision soon

Aaron Rodgers needs to make his decision pretty soon now. Free agency is about to start, and the Green Bay Packers would love to have clarity on their QB situation before they start making moves for next season.

If Rodgers decides to leave the Packers, Jordan Love is ready to take his position, and the team has complete faith in him. Rodgers went on a darkness retreat to clear his head before making the crucial decision, and hopefully, the four-time NFL MVP will make the best decision possible.

The Jets still have Rodgers as their top priority, but it will be interesting to see if they change their aspirations in the coming weeks.
