Christian McCaffrey's wife Olivia Culpo sends prayers as Pacific Palisades wildfires lead to mass evacuation in LA

As flames ravage the hillsides of Pacific Palisades, NFL running back Christian McCaffrey and his wife, Olivia Culpo, are praying for the thousands affected by the wildfires gripping Southern California. In an Instagram story shared Tuesday evening, Culpo wrote:

“Praying for everyone affected by these devastating fires. Thank you to the heroes working tirelessly to protect our communities and wildlife."

Christian reposted an image from the Los Angeles Times showing a firefighter standing before an inferno, captioning it with two praying emojis.

Starting near Piedra Morada Drive, the wildfire had scorched over 2,900 acres by nightfall. Reports indicate that 30,000 people have evacuated their homes, leaving behind abandoned vehicles on jammed roads in a bid to escape. Fueled by gusts reaching up to 99 mph, the blaze has been difficult for firefighters to contain.

Local officials declared the situation “life-threatening and destructive" and are urging residents across Pacific Palisades, Altadena, Pasadena and Sylmar to heed evacuation orders. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Meanwhile, just miles from the disaster, the McCaffrey-Culpo household lies in LA’s Encino neighborhood.

Nestled in the Encino neighborhood, their home is more than just a residence for them. Purchased in 2022, just before Christian McCaffrey’s trade to the San Francisco 49ers, the decision behind buying their 5,366-square-foot place was about creating a space where their life could feel peaceful and grounded, as Olivia Culpo said in a 2021 interview with Architectural Digest:

"I lived in Hollywood right in the thick of it, in the middle of all the noise, and I realized I really wanted something that felt more calming, like a sanctuary almost. A respite from the city."

While the fire hasn't reached their vicinity, another eruption, the Eaton Fire, has prompted evacuations in communities across Altadena, La Canada Flintridge and parts of Glendale, with over 52,000 residents forced to leave their own cherished homes behind.

According to Governor Gavin Newsom, over 1,400 firefighters, officials and first responders have been deployed.
